Digestive Health
Digestive health is complex, and is a critical aspect of human health.
Our mainstream medical system offers a variety of testing options such as endoscopies, and colonoscopies, however unfortunately many digestive complaints go poorly managed as there is limited ability to look at functional aspects of the system.
Functional medicine looks at parameters of the digestive system that may be suboptimal and causing symptoms.
At Verdure we use a variety of functional medicine testing options to get to the root cause of your lingering digestive difficulties, help to manage diseases, and to optimize wellness.
These tests are available within an initial or follow up appointment with our practitioners.
At Verdure we know the importance of digestive health, and we are pleased to offer a variety of options to best suit our patients needs, and health concerns.
Our digestive testing options are:
-
- Food Sensitivity Testing
- Parasite testing
- Microbiological stool assessments
- Comprehensive digestive stool analysis
- Organic acid urinanalysis
- Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) testing
Food sensitivity testing
Our nutritionists use a variety of options including IgG assessments and MSAS bio-meridian assessments.
Our naturopathic doctor, Dr. Kristin Spark, ND uses IgG food sensitivity testing.
Parasite testing
Available through our nutritionists and Naturopathic Doctor.
Parasites are quite common and can cause serious health consequences if left untreated. Stool testing and bio-meridian testing options are available.
Microbiological stool assessments
The microbiome is the make-up of the bacteria, yeasts, parasites and viruses that reside within our intestines.
This area of medicine is vastly expanding and has a growing body of evidence connecting imbalances in bacteria with diseases such as autoimmunity, diabetes and obesity.
Microbiome testing is available through stool and urine testing.
This testing can be usedful for people dealing with IBS, IBD, autoimmunity and more.
Comprehensive digestive stool analysis
This stool testing looks at 4 key parameters of digestive health: imbalance, indigestion, insufficiency, and inflammation.
This testing offers a look at the microbiome, and assesses the organs of digestion, and levels of inflammation of the colon.
This testing can be helpful for people dealing with IBS, IBD, autoimmune disease and more.
Organic acid testing
This testing uses urine to assess markers for imbalances in the microbiome, as well as mitochondrial function, and neurological function.
This testing can be a good option for those with ADHD, ADD, depression or anxiety.
SIBO testing
This testing uses timed breath samples, usually 90-180 minutes of testing, following ingestion of a specialized solution in order to test for SIBO: small intestine bacterial overgrowth.
This testing assesses for output of specific markers found in the breath, signalling an overgrowth of bacteria in the small intestine.
